SOFENA has launched a new project „CEATY: Cooperation Partnership in School Education Clean Energy Ambassador Training for Youngsters“ under the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union. The project is an online training initiative on climate change and clean energy issues that aims to achieve the EU’s goal of net zero emissions by 2050 through education, public awareness and cooperation.

The first international meeting of the project was held on March 8 and 9, 2023 in Sofia at the invitation of the SOFENA agency, the project coordinator. All partners from Turkey, Slovenia, Spain and the Netherlands were present. The aim of the project is to join the fight against global warming by providing students between 12 and 16 years old with knowledge about energy consumption, energy saving, renewable energy sources and by developing a responsible attitude towards the environment in order to turn them into Clean Energy Ambassadors. The objective is in line with the EU’s new 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which reflects the urgent need to mainstream the principles of Education for Sustainable Development at all levels of education

This main objective will be achieved through the development of online teaching tools that facilitate the transformation of education by empowering learners to contribute to environmental protection and the fight against climate change. To this end, a new digital learning platform will be developed. This platform, together with the Clean Energy Ambassadors toolkit and the online training course, will be open and free for everyone to use. The engaging and fun nature of the learning programme activities will motivate students to share them with their siblings and peers. Quizzes will encourage them to discuss their new knowledge with their parents and other adults, enabling the children to act as clean energy ambassadors to their families and friends, and ensuring that the project has an impact on a wider audience outside of school. At the end of the training, the children will have gained an understanding of the EU’s overall climate and energy goals and will have learned more about their own role as European citizens.
